Job Description:

As the Indian Vegetarian Restaurant Chef at Jay Bhavani, you will be the creative force behind our culinary offerings. Your role will involve leading the kitchen team, developing and executing innovative vegetarian Indian dishes, and maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation. We are seeking a talented chef with a deep passion for Indian cuisine, creativity in the kitchen, and a dedication to delighting our guests’ taste buds.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Menu Development:
– Create and update a diverse and exciting menu of Indian vegetarian dishes.
– Innovate and develop new recipes while preserving the authenticity of traditional dishes.
– Ensure menu offerings cater to various dietary preferences and restrictions.

2. Kitchen Leadership:
– Lead, train, and motivate kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants.
– Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen.
– Oversee food preparation, plating, and presentation to meet quality standards.

3. Quality Control:
– Monitor food quality at all stages of preparation to ensure consistency and excellence.
– Conduct regular taste tests and inspections of ingredients to maintain freshness and flavor.
– Implement food safety and hygiene protocols, following health regulations.

4. Inventory Management:
– Manage kitchen inventory efficiently, including ordering ingredients and supplies.
– Control food costs by minimizing waste and optimizing portion sizes.
– Implement effective storage practices to maintain ingredient freshness.

5. Collaboration:
– Work closely with the Restaurant Manager to coordinate menu changes and specials.
– Collaborate with the front-of-house staff to address customer preferences and feedback.
– Participate in promotional events and culinary showcases.

Qualifications:

– Proven experience as a chef in an Indian cuisine restaurant, preferably with a focus on vegetarian dishes.
– Extensive knowledge of Indian vegetarian cuisine, spices, and cooking techniques.
– Creativity and passion for developing new recipes while preserving tradition.
– Strong leadership and team management skills.
– Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
– Understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
